Boosting a total area of 2 km as well as 12 peaks, the Shanshui Theatre is ideal for its breathtaking scenery, including mountains, rivers, forests, and also one of the largest natural theatres in the world. The auditorium resembles a green terrace with a panorama vision. Lighting and stereo sets are elaborately designed to accord with the natural setting. There are about 2200 seats for the audience, 180 reserved for VIP, 20 for presidents, and the rest for any one interested in art and theatre. The performance, the Folk Song Festival of Liu Sanjie (The Third Sister of Liu) is held near the beautiful Lijiang River, facing the widely-known Scholar"s Page Hill.

Unlike the traditional stage performance, which is limited by its facilities, the Shanshui Theatre incorporates the beautiful scenery into its performance. Guests will truly be impressed by the misty rains, the bamboo forests, and mountains, particularly how it fits ever so perfectly in this creative stage performance.

The credibility of the performance is further enhanced by famous director, Zhang Yimou"s talent and creative energy into the project. The director of numerous works and international renowned, Zhang Yimou perfectly meshes the harmonious relationship between humanity and nature.

The performance is further bolstered by the input from two young directors, Wang Chaoge and Fanyue, who also contribute with their creative vision. Furthermore, the performance is boosts top-gate designers of music, stage art, lighting and costume from home and abroad.
